Currently ~ October 2019 With The Style Six

Today's a twofer! I'm mixing it up with Anne's Currently linkup and our very own Style Six link up. How fun, right? I haven't shared much of our world lately so I thought I might update you (at least for those that are interested!). Be sure to join us today by linking up your favorite fashion or beauty post.
arranging || All the homecoming plans and hotels for a basketball trip. Alise's homecoming date's mom will be busy at the beginning of October giving birth to another human being, and Alise is just "dying" for her corsage and L's boutonniere to match (Thank you, Pinterest!), so I told Kristy that I would handle it so she wouldn't have to worry about it. The dress is bought, but unfortunately, I had to buy shoes this year. As for basketball, we have games in Mississippi and New Orleans two days after Christmas and I've vowed that I'm not going to lose my religion over telling you how stupid that is.

loving || Love, love, LOVED every minute we spent at Supper on the 'Sip last Thursday night in Vicksburg, Mississippi! Did you happen to catch my IG Stories last week? I may have had sweat running down my legs at one point (I'm pretty sure it wasn't pee!), but the food, mood, and sunset totally made up for the oh-so hot temperatures! Supper on the 'Sip was a United Way fundraiser on the old bridge over the Mississippi River. There were food vendors from Vicksburg and surrounding areas and trust me! They did not disappoint! I cannot WAIT to go back next year!
I shared more dessert pictures on IG than I did actual food, but there's a story behind the mini banana puddings. They were actually made by a "Healthy" vendor (I can't remember the name) and he told us that he accidently left out the bananas! We had a great laugh about that, but the pudding was absolutely fabulous!

embracing || All the fall styles even if I'm sweating to death as I wear them. And yes, this Southern Diva still wears white jeans after Labor Day. I normally wear them off and on until the end of October and only later when I have something really cute and "winter-ish" to wear with them. I love how this outfit came together for church a few weeks ago. Did you notice the pattern mixing, too?
purchasing || I happened to walk through a local store last week and smelled the most amazing fall scent. The fragrance was Aromatique's Cinnamon Cider and boy does it fragrant a room! For the past few years, I've been using wax burners more than candles because candles aren't always as strong as I like them to be and some brands produce alot of smoke and soot and I don't like that. I've got Cinnamon Cider burning in just about every room of the house and I went back to buy more to give as Fall happys to friends!

sharing || All the Cinnamon Cider and Fall trash with friends! I came up with my own version of salty and sweet and I've been packaging it in clear bags and cute tags from my friend Jennifer Davis. It's really good!
So I think you're all caught up! OH! Except I need to mention that we took Alise to see my orthopedic foot doctor last week (Remember the summer of Felicia??). She has been complaining since this summer about the bottoms of her feet hurting. We didn't think it was anything too serious - and it's not! - but to give her piece of mind, we took her anyway.  Apparently she just needs to stretch the tendon at the bottom of her foot more before practice. If she will do the stretches twice a day, the problem could be cleared up by Thanksgiving. We'll see if she does the exercises. Remember, my fourteen year old knows everything and she doesn't think the exercising will work.

So anyway.

Our world revolves these days around Alise's social calendar (always something!), basketball practices (games start this month!), trying to make A's in Honor Classes, running errands at lunch, and remembering whose turn it is to take out Jack. Throw in a few descent meals during the week, church times two, and football games with friends, and by 7:00 each night, I'm done. There may or many not be a few nights that I've actually gone to bed at 8:00 (only to be woken up by the Fed Ex man while my UPS husband sleeps)!! But it's all good. Life is good and I am so blessed.

Last week, half of the Style Six group picked the same fashion favorite, which I think was so neat. Hey, we like what we like, what can we say? Let's try to go for FOUR out of six this week! My favorite pic this week goes to Duhamel at LaMoumous Fashion. Y'all know that office fashion is where my heart is because of my occupation so her navy blazer inspiration was speaking my love language. Thanks for linking up with us, Duhamel! Nice job!

And now it's your turn!

  1. There’s my girl, looking all darling in the fabulous pattern mix. My goodness, that supper on the Sip looked so fun! This is how blonde I am...I first thought the “sip” meant cause well, cocktails, now I realize it’s cause you were on the Mississippi, duh!!! LOL. Ahh yes, the days of ruled by the school, as in all the school functions and running round kids. I hope you have the best day, I wanna munch on your Fall Trash, packaged so cutely I may add! xo

    1. No, girl! There weren't any cocktails on the Mighty Mississippi River! They made us sign waivers before we were allowed on the bridge. They didn't want anyone jumping! Ha!

  5. Ooh, what a fun event - I'm allll about the dessert pictures. And all about stripes + white jeans + olive green for fall. Great way to do a transitional outfit, especially when it's too warm for full-on jacket sleeves still ;-)

  9. Aromatique always has the best scents. I need to pull my wax warmer out and get some fall in the air even though its 95 outside. Loved seeing what you're currently up to!

  10. I prefer melts too because of the soot and also because I'm not so great at remembering to blow them out before I head out of the house or go to bed! YIKES! My oldest son used to complain of heal/foot pain and was able to correct a lot of it using insoles in his shoes. We used a Dr. Scholls machine at Walmart and the ones they "prescribed" and since it was HIS idea he used them and swore it made all the difference (though I should say that in his case he has nearly flat feet). Hope she does her exercises and it helps!

    1. Alise's feet are pretty flat, too, and we tried the insoles, but they just didn't work. The orthopedic doctor gave her some that day in the office, too, but of course, later, she was rolling her eyes because she thinks the insoles/pads/stretch exercising is all a big waste of time. I will say that she needed new BB shoes and it took FOREVAH to get her new ones in and she doesn't seem to be complaining as much, so we'll see.

  16. Cute outfit with those white jeans - you are inspiring to get one more wearing out of my white, with black windowpane lines, jeans during October. Gotta find a fun new fall sweater to layer on top.

  19. As a mom who had a baby two weeks before homecoming Jordans freshman year, I can tell you how happy you made that mom by taking care of the mums! I LOVE this outfit and the pattern mixing perfection!! I may just have to recreate that one. Of course this also reminds me I don't have my leopard booties anymore. :(
