4 W's For Spring

I totally forgot to wish my dear readers a Happy First Day of Spring yesterday! I hope your day was gorgeous (and pollen free!). Ours was a little on the cool side, but the sun was out. Alise had her second track meet, but unfortunately, Wayne and I weren't able to go and it killed this Mama's soul. I am so thankful for friends that can chauffeur my kid around when I'm stuck in the office on a three hour conference call.

The 4 W's For Spring wasn't something that I purposely planned. This post just sorta came together on its own and so I just ran with it. These are the things going on in my world lately.

1. Walking - When Alise was out for Spring Break in February, I started back with my walking routine with a mile a day. I'm trying to get my energy and stamina level back for our upcoming trip to Disney and although I know that we'll be walking A LOT while we're there, my personal goal is two miles five to six days a week. I've been off and on with my walking over the last few years, but two miles is a good goal for me. Once I'm acclimated, I can walk it in about thirty to thirty five minutes. This past Sunday, I increased my range to two miles, but I'm no where near the thirty minute mark. I'm pressing on.

2. Water - I'm in the third week of water wellness and I really hate it. I've fallen off the wagon once. And by that, I mean no water all day, Just Diet Coke. I had to "cheat" just a little in the beginning with the caffeine headaches, but I never drank an entire soda. Other than that, it's been water all the way. Oh, how I miss my Diet Cokes, but my skin is really loving my decision right now. I feel like such a failure when I challenge myself to do this because I ALWAYS end up going back to the fizzies. Restaurants are my downfall.

3. Word - Our Life Group leader has challenged us to begin memorizing Bible scripture, so I have index cards laying on my night stand, my car, my desk at the office, and my side of the vanity. I memorize one to two verses a week. We've been discussing what it means to really know God as Father, even if you never had a good relationship with your earthly Father. I have a story to share with y'all soon.

4. Weather - We've had a wet Spring so far here in Louisiana, but I have SO enjoyed opening the windows throughout the house and letting everything have a good airing. Wayne complains that I'm "letting the pollen in (it showed up in full force this past week!)," but I just don't see it that way. After being cooped up all winter, and being able to walk through the house and feel a nice breeze, it makes me smile. Pollen, shmollen. That's what Claritin is for.

Just keeping it real, Peeps!  Enjoy your Wednesday!
P.S. Alise and I were looking through some pictures of some old blog posts a few nights ago and I just realized that I celebrated my TWELFTH BLOGIVERSARY on March 18th! I can't believe I've been blogging that long! Wow!

  3. I'm not a fan of drinking water either. It's such a chore. I do find it a bit easier to drink it through a straw but still, ugh!

Yay for walking, it's my favorite and I try to do it a few days a week ! Also.... I'm terrible about drinking water most times I'm sipping coffee or 7-up. Happy Spring to you !

  5. Hello my sweet! You know I'm proud of you in your little changes that will make a big impact. A few years ago I was in a Bible study in my church that revolved around accepting God as your Father when your earthly father was not what they should have been in your life. (That's my background.) So much goodness came out of that study and from the mouths of all the participants. For the first time I realized I really am not the only kid who has been rejected by her father time and time again and I really do have a Real Father who loves me 24/7, 365, with no strings. It really healed pieces of my heart. (Sorry, got a little too deep in my comment here....) XO my sweet Loozieanner girl.

  6. OK - I think you need that picture on a shirt to wear every day - its so cute :) haha
I need to step up my walking game (pun intended?) ... bad thing, I walk so much at work now but it's not like consistent - spread out through the day, so my feet are killing me when I get home - but I need to walk for work out sake too - the struggle.

  9. Wow! 12 years is really impressive. I cut down to one Diet Coke a day about a year ago - and now there are days when I don't even finish it. I know water is better for me but I can't give it up completely! It's still too chilly here to open up the windows yet, but I know what you mean - nothing like that fresh air smell!

  10. GIRL...12 years!!! Congratulations. That right there shows you can stick with things😉 I'm with you on the water. The struggle is REAL! If I could see a difference in my skin maybe I'd be more encouraged. Love me some walking and of course good weather. I can't wait to hear what the story is you have to share. Way to go memorizing scripture. My memory is so bad. Have a great week!! XOXO
