Red, White, Blue & You 2020

Hello Friends!

I know! It's been a while! But what better way to pop in and celebrate one of my favorite holidays than linking up with my sweet Style Six Sisters!?

I absolutely LOVE the 4th of July! I tend to be a proud American Girl and enjoy decorating our home every summer with red, white, and blue. I especially love our beloved American flag and you'll find lots of them throughout our living room, pool and cook shack areas, and across our front porch.

One of my favorite ways to decorate with flags is by sticking some in my flower pots. Love, love, LOVE this patriotic POP around the pool. You may remember from last year that I also like to stick them in my ferns. I got that idea from Amy Hannon, who I just absolutely adore! You can check out last year's post by clicking here
If it were left up to me, I would have flags in the flower beds across the front of our house, but Wayne thinks that may be a little overkill. Instead, we compromised on two huge banners. And they are huge! We bought them from Amazon last year and we joke that they are Walt Disney sized banners. I'm trying to talk him in to buying a few more.

We recently dined al fresco - which is one of my favorite things to do in the summer! - and I brought out this arrangement for the table. Love how the setting sun is hitting the flags.
It normally sits on our sofa table in the living room, but I brought it out to go with THIS! Our small version of a 4th of July charcuterie board! Small because it was just Wayne and I enjoying it that night since Alise was over at a friend's house. It was the perfect evening with songs from Pandora's Michael Buble Station (which I love!), the hanging lights, and a glass of wine.
Earlier this summer, I made this gorgeous thang, which was a fun twist on a family favorite dessert. I just decided to present it in a trifle bowl instead of the normal 13 x 9 pan. Sometimes sheet cakes can be pretty boring, so I like to change things up from time to time. I enjoy making layered cakes so I can put them on my grandmother's cake pedestal.

Last but not least, mom and I have been working on a project for the last few weeks and we finished it this weekend, just in time for the holiday! My dad even got in on the project with helping us with the staple gun. I've been wanting to make a vintage, shabby chic American flag for a few years now, so I guess you can call this my "quarantine project." I need to add one more polka dot ribbon, but I absolutely LOVE how it turned out!!
Happy 4th of July, Friends!
