Random Covid-19 Thoughts With The Style Six

Happiest of birthdays to my little bro who made sure my parent's got that extra tax deduction on Tax Day back in 1977 and made me a Big Sis! I'm still jealous over the Easter Rabbit birthday cake he always gets when he decides to visit on tax weekend. The coconut icing? Not so much.

In need of a new pool boy. We weren't happy with the one we hired last summer, so... However, the Cabana Boy is working out oh-so nicely!

I am happy to report that UPS has FINALLY provided their drivers with hand sanitizer. Still no gloves or masks. Of course, I've taken things into my own hands and Mr. Horton is "equipped for the job." He is now our sole family grocery store runner and completely over buys which drives the accountant in me absolutely crazy.

My life has resorted to a 1,000 piece puzzle of Bryant Denny Stadium. At night. If you don't know what I'm talking about, we can't be friends. Also, I'm pretty sure we won't have this thing put together by the time Corona says good-bye. It's that dang hard! I think I want to learn how to play Canasta again.

I cleaned some windows. From the outside. That should count for something, right?

Oh and spring project #1: painting our master bedroom is about to commence. As soon as the paint store opens and I can get the paint!

I am continuing to work from home 2-3 days a week and then in the office on the other days. Working from home is not my jam, mostly because my set up at the office is so much more productive than working on a laptop. I admire you girls that work from home, put on make-up, and get dressed every day.  I'm lucky if I even put on a bra!

On this day, twenty-five years ago, I was on a pontoon boat with our firm's partners celebrating the end of tax season 1995 while my mother was at home making punch for our wedding. That was not the last fight we would have before the big day!

I thought I would share some Easter pictures of Alise that we took on Good Friday. The weather was absolutely gorgeous that day!
This was one of the outfits that she picked out about six weeks ago to wear to her upcoming Sports Banquet. Unfortunately, it was canceled due to C-19. I also noticed that she's lost more weight and the romper is bigger in some areas, but she still loves it and I thought she looked so, so pretty.
Alise begged me to get out of the house to take pictures. She wanted to put on makeup for the first time in weeks, fix her hair, and dress up.
Of course, I was tickled to death to do it because I remember those earlier days of wanting to get Easter pics and Baby Girl wouldn't even grace me with a smile. We celebrated with Starbucks drinks and cake pops. It was the perfect afternoon.

  1. Alise looks so pretty and so grown up! That blue is a great color on her. I am chuckling about Wayne being an over shopper - my husband on the other hand buys ONLY the things on the list and that drives me crazy because sometimes I wish he'd grab a treat or two and surprise us, apparently that is MY job! Ha!!

    1. Ha ha, Kellyann! You are cracking me up! I have to admit that the surprises are nice, but we certainly don't need two of everything! It's like he's thinking there's a pandemic or something? Lol!

  2. Ah, your girl is so pretty! And what a delightful afternoon together - almost sounds "normal"... we haven't done any food/coffee pickups except getting a make-at-home pizza kit from a local restaurant one time. And I'm missing that kind of outing! Also I very much understand you on those feelings of your husband suddenly becoming the sole grocery shopper...

    1. Thank you, Anne! We try to get out of the house for a change of scenery at least once a week, but we don't go anywhere where there are lots of people. We do drive-thru or curb-side pickup maybe once a week, too. We've been eating EAster leftovers for several days now and that is certainly getting old.

  3. That ruffle sleeved dress on Alise is soooo pretty, my goodness she is a beauty. I can’t believe your 25 is next week! Funny memory about the punch while you were “ On the Pontoon.....” Little Big town jam, lol. Happy Birthday to your lil Bro and a big no on coconut frosting here too. Love YOU! xo

  4. She looks beautiful, that's a nice shade of blue on her! :)

Things are definitely a little crazy here with this virus - I work from home once a week usually so adjusting to every day instead of just once wasn't too big of a leap. However when the schools closed and I had to teach the kids at the same time...it is getting tricky! I am hopeful we will find out rhythm and routine soon.

    Thanks for the link up!

Hope that you are having a good week :)

  11. Your daughter is absolutely lovely. That color and the ruffles are a wonderful for a young lady. I think it's nice that she wanted to get all dressed up and feel more like herself again. I am working from home with my husband also working from home, and the kids at home doing online school. It's hard to get motivated and then also stay motivated all day long sometimes, but getting up early, getting dressed and doing my make-up seems to help with that A LOT. Sounds like you are keeping safe and sane, as best as you can. :)

  12. Alise looks more grown up every single time I see her in a picture. You two are going to have such a great relationship, I just know it. You are very ambitious with a 1,000 piece puzzle. We did one and it was only about 500/600. Katie is so busy keeping up with classes she doesn't have much time to play with me. I can't wait til she's done in 2 weeks. I'm still in disbelief she's finishing her undergrad, and it's compounded by there being no graduation. WOMP-WOMP!!!! XOXO

  13. Your daughter looks so sweet in the pictures. When my teen suggests doing something, I try to jump on it, this week, it was a small hike.
