Currently ~ December 2019 With The Style Six

Welcome back to the Style Six! And Happy December!! Christmas is officially THREE weeks away, y'all! Eek! I don't like feeling rushed and in the past few years, I've been able to get a jump start on shopping and pace our December schedules. This year, I'm already feeling the pressure of trying to get it all done. And I feel so GUILTY about that because we all know that Jesus is the Reason for the Season and it is always my greatest intent to keep the true meaning of Christmas at the fore-front of the holiday season. Do you get overwhelmed during the holidays? I think keeping the right perspective and making lists are key to surviving the Christmas rush.

Today I'm joining Anne for her Currently link up, too! Here are five things that I'm "currently" up to!

wrapping || I'll be honest.  I haven't wrapped the first gift yet, but I HAVE started my shopping. I found THE CUTEST designer tissue paper with scallop edges at Tuesday Morning and I might have gone a little crazy by buying almost all of it!

baking || So baking the pecan pie this year for Thanksgiving got off to a rough start when I realized the pie crusts I had in the freezer expired in 2013! 2013, ya'll! That's SIX years old! I'm so embarrassed to tell you that! Especially after I just hosted a Friendsgiving complete with a pie bar, but I DID buy new pie crusts for those pies, thank goodness!

lighting || A fire under my teen's you-know-what to get all these tests made up and finished that she missed while she was out with the flu a few days before Thanksgiving break.

sending || Lots of love and anniversary wishes to my parents who celebrate 50 years of wedded bliss on Friday!

enjoying || My outfit for Thanksgiving Day! This mustard cardi has been on constant repeat, let me tell ya!
It has absolutely been one of my favorite things to wear this season. And I promise you that this will be the last time you'll see me in mustard for the rest of the year! Bring on all the RED! I've linked the cardi here in case you're interested.
And now, it's your turn!

  1. Laura, you look so cute in this outfit! And I know what you mean about feeling rushed and missing what's important. It's a struggle for sure. We haven't even got our tree up!! I did start a new devotional by Paul Tripp that helps me feel like I'm soaking in as much as I can!

  5. The mustard yellow looked perfect for Thanksgiving. I know what you mean about the Christmas rush. It feels like a very short Christmas season this year. Ha, ha about the pie crusts...I won't tell if you won't. ;)

  10. Love that mustard color on you - how perfect for Thanksgiving. And I love picking a wrapping paper or tissue paper design for the year and just buying all of that to wrap all of my presents in... got to find this year's design soon so that I can fill up my tree with all of the gifts I've purchased already! :)

  12. Are you sure the pie crusts expired in 2013? Maybe the 3 was really an 8! That's what I think! Your Thanksgiving outfit was adorable! Have a great week and congrats to your parents!!!

  14. Well, having Thanksgiving so late this year has really put Christmas on top of us. I've managed to stay on top of things thus far. Mustard is definitely a great color for you!

  15. Laura, I just totally laughed out loud about your expired pie crusts! That is totally something that would happen to me. However, since we moved into our current home in 2017, I don’t think I have anything older than that in my freezer or cupboards. Fast forward to a few years from now and I very well may have 6 year expired food in my house as well. LOL. That being said, mustard looks so great on you. Such a cute Thanksgiving outfit, too!

  17. I remember the Christmas in high school that I had to go into school on the teachers' inservice day before the holiday break officially began to take all of my finals because I had been so sick and missed so much school. Practically made me relapse! Hope Alise gets all caught up and then can relax over the holidays.

Love your graphic tee and that cardi combo. Your wear those colors so well. No wonder it has become a favorite piece.

We shop the commissary on Ft. Bliss once a month and then pick up other things as we need them at Walmart. I cleaned out everything in my cabinets early in the fall, and then in preparing for my last trip to the commissary, I went through all of my boxes and canned goods. Found several 2017 expiration dates. While shopping at the commissary, I found expired (by several years) cans of food, covered in dust, on the shelves. I think they are selling military families expired food. Makes me sad.
