In September, I shared some Fall trends and I included the tie waisted paper bag pants as one of my favorites for the season (I loved them in the Spring, too!). The truth is, I had just bought these wide leg pants from Walmart when I wrote that post and so today I'm showing you how I styled them. And if my old high school friends see my post today, they are going to give me a hard time for wearing our rival's school colors! That was a BIG no-no back in the 80's and 90's. #foreverouachita
So when I decided to wear these to church this past Sunday, Wayne popped off, "So are you wearing French's or Dijon?" I took that as a sarcastic comment that he liked my mustard pants. When I walked through the door of my Life Group, my dear friend and teacher said, "Oh, Laura! Mustard was all the rage overseas! I mean, it was everywhere!" She had just gotten back from a European cruise with her sister. So I am here to share the news that mustard is IN for Fall!
I'll be honest. It's taken me a while to jump on the mustard wagon. It's not a color that I felt was in my color wheel, but I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something new. Now, I am 5'3" so these pants are definitely not cropped on me. They come right to my ankles which is such a fun length for shorter girls like me I think. The ruffles and bow give the cargo a softer look and they do not wrinkle nearly like I thought they would. The gingham blouse is also a Walmart find from this Spring. I guess I'm just a Fall ad for Walmart today! My pic of the week goes to Ashley at Le Stylo Rouge. She had the perfect summer to fall transition look with a midi-length slip dress and olive chunky sweater. We're not quite ready for sweaters here in Louisiana, but Ashley has me dreaming about the days to come!

Thank you so much for all your comments and emails about my HOCO 2019 post last week. I think I can finally say that I've made a full recovery from all the excitement and running. My girl definitely made some sweet memories that night!
And now it's your turn!

We just got a new Aerie store here, but I've only been in it once! With a 14 year old that wanted everything! Thanks, Lisa!

Le Stylo Rouge
Hello, Ashley! Love your style!
DeleteOMG Laura you look DARLING!!!! I LOVE this look.
ReplyDeleteI love the mustard color pants and you wear them well. It's one of my favorite colors for sure! I've got to start looking at the clothes closer when I go to WalMart which is usually 4 times a week.
ReplyDeleteCute outfit for fall in Louisiana! I love that your husband iflirts/teases with humor! Mine does that, too! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAnne
Yay for Walmart to have such trendy, darling pieces. Gingham is just adorable on you. And great way to wear that mustard when you aren't sure about it being one of your colors. My mom said yellow makes me look sea sick. Ha!! So I am better off, according to her, having it on my bottom half!! You look so cute. And your complexion is dreamy!
ReplyDeleteAm liking these together, I wore my mustard culottes with black and white leopard print and loved it - the trousers are too big for me now, so will have to look for a smaller pair - nice problem to have! ;-)) x Jacqui
