Happy New Year, Peeps, and welcome 2018! I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends! Unlike some people, I LOVE January! It's my birthday month, y'all, and trust me, forty-five is coming in strong this year! But I can't wait! Today I'm linking up with Anne to share what we're currently startinghopingschedulingreading, and playing.

Starting// My walking routine again. Even Mr. UPS man is getting in on the action after a recent visit to his GP. His cholesterol was high (not too high) and they are suggesting he tries diet and exercise before meds. I can't help thinking, My God! The man walks/runs/climbs every day! How much more exercise does he need? I, on the other hand, need plenty! And that's all I'm gonna say about that!

Hoping// And praying that Stephanie will recover from the setbacks that she experienced at Christmas time. Our holiday was tough to say the least. She has lost so much weight and is now recovering and spending some time with her dad in Orlando. This is one of the few smiles I got from her during the holidays when she came to see me at work one afternoon before Christmas.
Scheduling// An appointment for Wayne with an orthopedic doc. Somehow, someway, he managed to do something to his foot while delivering during the holidays. I know, I know. What about our walking routine? Hell, the Horton's are simply falling apart!

Reading// You can catch up with what I've been reading here and here. If I had to suggest one book for January, it would be Liv Constantine's, The Last Mrs. Parrish. I really enjoyed it!

Playing// The weekend before Christmas, we made a trip to TTown to see our friend, HC, and the rest of Bama's WBB team play against SMU. Alise was SO excited to meet her favorite point guard, JL, and she was so nice and encouraging to Alise. We talked to HC and her parents after the game and she is just so darn funny! She actually graduated the day before and we wished her all the best! It was a great family day for us and we're planning another trip in January for SEC play.
Here are a few more snapshots from our holidays!
Wishing all my readers a very happy and healthy New Year! God's blessing to all of you and my heart felt thank you for reading our family blog! Be sure to visit again tomorrow when I'll be sharing some Thursday Thoughts.

  2. Wait just one minute - you are intentionally going to exercise? Laura Horton what? LOL Nothing like some blood work to kick our tails right? Been there done that sister. Rock it out. Adding your book rec to my list to get. I have got to stop reading Danielle Steel. LOL! I hope that Florida sunshine (you know it snowed down there last night? Not Orlando.) helps her out. God knows it is no fun to have a hard time when you're so young and go the whole world at your manicured tips! Love you, Laura! xo

  3. Ooh I saw that book as the December pick for Reese Witherspoon's book club but wasn't sure if I'd like it - always good to see a positive recommendation! Hope everyone in your family is on the mend soon...

  5. Praying that with this new year, all of you will have restored health and energy. It is so hard when our babies struggle and there's nothing we can do to help them. My youngest has an auto-immune deficiency and struggles just staying well. Breaks my heart for her.

Yay for walking and water drinking and weight loss. I have lofty resolutions that will no doubt get set aside again when I come to my senses in February. Ha!

    Happy new year.

  8. I hope Stephanie makes a strong comeback in 2018! Alise is looking so grown up. I'm hoping to find my walking game again when it warms up a little. I hope Wayne gets answers at the dr. visit. It's no fun getting older!
