Friday Favorites: The Tree's Finally Up Edition

Hello, Loves and TGIF!

It's been a while since I've participated in Friday Favorites and since the holidays are so close and our social calendar is quickly booking up, I thought I would participate in at least one more before the end of 2017 to catch you up on what we've been doing during this most wonderful time of the year!
{one.} It's been a while since we've had Friday Night Family Night in the Horton household. Before summer ended, Friday nights meant pizza (make your own or delivery) and games or a movie. Alise asked mid-week if we could have a family night for decorating the tree (that had been in our living room naked for two weeks), eating pizza, watching Christmas Vacation, and drinking hot chocolate.  And that's EXACTLY what we did, peeps! I had forgotten how much I loved all of us being together before life got busy. A certain UPS man may have fallen asleep in his recliner during the movie, but since he made us a nice warm fire, we let him slide. Ha! And I am totally glad that the tree is finished!
{two.} Another tradition is for Wayne and I have to have a date night before Christmas. I'm not sure what the difference is between a "regular" date night, but we both look forward to it because this is his busiest time of the year. There are days that we hardly see one another, so of course, I'll grab a night out with my man any time I can. And as you can tell, Alise likes to be included. In pictures, at least. She had to stay home that night and study for mid-terms.
{three.} And speaking of mid-terms... first semester of seventh grade is in the books! I am one blessed and proud Mama! Alise finished the semester with all A's despite her busy basketball schedule. She had two injuries a few weeks ago - a sprained ankle and a knee injury due to being deliberately tripped by the other team (they got fouls called on them for the penalty). She is one tough Baby Girl and I'll say again that I have no idea where her athletic ability comes from other than from her daddy. I absolutely LOVE watching her play!

{four.} Now for the most EXCITING news of the week... THIS Baby Girl came home a week early! Yay! She called us on Sunday afternoon and said, "I'm coming home!!" If this picture looks bad, it's because it was nearly midnight when I picked Steph up from the airport and she had been up well over 24 hours. She was exhausted to say the least and has slept a lot to adjust for the timing difference and jet lag. I'm a little concerned about the amount of weight she's lost since this summer, but I'll fatten her back up! We're adjusting to being a family of four once again.
{five.} And last but not least, Girls Night Out is tonight at my house! I may not be in the Christmas spirit so much this year, but I do look forward to this night every holiday. The menu has been made and most of the items I've been able to make ahead, so all that's left is to pick up a few things on my way home from work. I'm trying a new hot spinach dip recipe (without artichokes) this year and I'll let you know how it turns out.

The Christmas season has definitely arrived and our social calendar is slammed this weekend with parties and activities. Even Alise's social calendar has got us hopping! I'm not complaining, though. I'm going to enjoy this season with my family and friends, and I hope that all my readers have a very Merry Christmas!
