What's Up Wednesday ~ April 2017

Hello, Friends, and welcome to What's Up Wednesday!  It's the last Wednesday in April, so I'm sharing what we've been up to.  I sat this one out in March simply because I feel like so much of these posts are "repeats" - since I already blog about our everyday life! - but whatevah, right?! I mean, you can read it or you don't have to, but hopefully I'll share something new today.

What We're Eating This Week...Crawfish, crayfish, however you want to pronounce it, it's what's on the menu this weekend when we entertain friends with them and all the trimmings! The kids are gonna swim, the parents are gonna relax, and it's just gonna be a great evening for everyone {How many times did I just say, "gonna"?}!

What I'm Reminiscing About... There will never be another April that passes by that I don't think about our anniversary cruise to Hawaii. I mean, seriously. Last week, a post from two years ago showed up on my FB feed and brought back such sweet memories of that awesome week! I can't wait to go back in a few years!

What I'm loving...Baby Girl is being recognized this morning as Student of the Quarter for sixth grade and I am so happy! She deserves it! Or at least I do! Ha! I'm especially loving the fact that Wayne will get to see it, too!

What We've Been Up To...Speaking of our anniversary, Wayne and I stealed away this weekend to where it all began...Natchez. When we got married, we were broke and I had just started a new job so I hated to ask off for a very long honeymoon. I've always loved the antebellum period and the huge plantation homes, and so I'm kinda glad that we decided to stay somewhere that wasn't very far away because we've gone back to Natchez on several anniversaries in the past.  It's kinda "our little spot" and we love it. Here's one of my favorite pictures of us sharing a huge wedding cupcake!

And another favorite pic from Fat Mama's on Friday evening. We had our fill of "knock you naked margaritas" and tamales and we met some amazing new friends from South Louisiana that were actually staying at the same B&B. We went on a ghost tour that night. I apologize for any bad language I may have had on my SC that evening, but I was definitely skeered!

What I'm Dreading... Nothing.

What I'm Working On...Motivating my girls until the end of school. Both of them have projects and papers due in the coming weeks and they have become slackers. Alise has never been one to wait until the last minute - unlike her big sis! - but even she's pushing my "get-it-done" buttons.

What I'm Excited About...Stephanie graduates in less than three weeks.  I'm excited for her and the decisions she's got to make in the coming weeks. She's stressed, I'm stressed, but it's still an exciting time in our lives.

What I'm Watching & Reading...So you may remember me mentioning last month that the girls and I attended a book signing by one of our favorite authors.  The signing was for the last book of Greg Iles' three-book trilogy and I was the only one in the group who hadn't even read the first one! Well, I remedied that this month and read Natchez Burning in about two weeks. It was over 800 pages, y'all!

Natchez Burning: A Novel (Penn Cage Book 4) by [Iles, Greg]

Despite what the critics are saying, Stephanie and I are watching, 13 Reasons Why. It was her pick because she said everyone was talking about it at college and on social media. Alise wants to watch it, but I told her that I had to watch it first. She and I are on the final season of Gilmore Girls. The new season of Bosch is out on Netflix, so Wayne and I are enjoying it!

What I'm Listening To...Nada.

What I'm Wearing...I searched high and low for a new dress to wear for our anniversary and was so disappointed to be leaving town without one. However, as luck would have it, I found one at a boutique on the way to Natchez and I was so excited! I am in love with this dress!! I am such a sucker for white dresses - I own several! - especially in the summer. Had to make a special trip to the mall in Natchez for a slip and strapless bra. Do you know that slips are so hard to find these days?!

What I'm Doing This Weekend... I have a Mama/Daughter Pre-Graduation Party with Stephanie and all her friends, along with their moms to attend this weekend. Somehow, I got rooked into doing all the "pre-party" appetizers before we head to the party {whoever heard of "pre-parties"?}, but I enjoy it so I'm not complaining too much. I love it that she includes me and I'm looking forward to meeting some of the other moms. Graduation is May 13th! Eek!

What I'm Looking Forward To Next Month...Alise's birthday is coming up next month and I can't believe that I'm about to have a full-fledged teenager on my hands in just another year {thinking ahead!}. But until then, I'm looking forward to celebrating her special day with her and family in Alabama.

What Else Is New...Jack bit Alise last week during Spring Break. Can you believe it?  Our beloved schnauzer? She had left a piece of Strawberry Poke Cake on her bed beside her while she was playing games on the computer and he tore into it while she wasn't looking. She reached to grab the plate and he bit her. It broke the skin on her finger and was bleeding rather badly.  I was worried that she might need stitches. We took her to the doctor and all she ended up needing was some high powered antibiotics for five days. Lesson learned: don't mess with a dog and his food. Especially while he's eating it.

Linking up today with Mix and Match Mama and Queen In Between.

    1. The only ghost tour I would not recommend in NOLA is the one with the pub crawl! Y'all will have a blast!

  3. Slips are SO HARD to find... I wonder why?!?!?!
I think everyone is watching 13 Reasons Why - isnt it funny how one show can get so mainstream.

    1. I don't eat crawfish, either! I'll snack on all the other things we'll be feasting on as well.
