Holiday Decorating

I thought I would share a few pictures of some of my favorite Christmas decorations. Here goes:

This picture may not look big here, but it is really huge (I don't know the exact size). I've had it for years and it always goes over my rose bowl collection over the sofa table. When I put it up this year, Alise's eyes lit up!

Here is a picture of some of my new decorations that I picked up this year (Sorry for the glare on the picture). The table scarves are hot pink and peacock blue, although they don't look like it, here. I used glittery star ornaments to accent and the whole setting really looks good with the ball tiers on the left. I really have more rose bowls than this, but I had to put some of them up because I couldn't get the setting to look just right with all of them. I'm still not really satisfied with this arrangement - it looks better in my head than how it actually turned out, so if you have any ideas, let me know. This is the wreath on my front door. My mom made this and I love it! I love the little shimmery tassles and hot pink ribbon. Yes, the "Polka Dot Queen" reigns! Please ignore the mess behind Ho, ho, ho! I took this picture in the middle of decorating and stuff was just scattered everywhere. This is sitting in my kitchen window. I decided not to decorate the kitchen this year (I have a tree for the kitchen and it's normally decorated in gingerbread men and has a "baking" theme), but I couldn't pass up my polka dots! For those of you that saw Jack last week, you've already seen this piece. It is new this year. Can you tell I like glitter? Another picture. I absolutely LOVE this! You probably can't tell here, but this picture is cross-stitched. It normally hangs at the end of our hall. Not quite as big as the Santa picture, but it's still a good size. I collect nativity scenes so this picture with it's vibrant colors is really one of my favorite pieces. Last picture. Not a good one in my opinion. The arrangement looks dead. Well, actually it is because it's artificial, but it really is a gorgeous arrangement with the red berries and green holly. I usually put some thick red and white candles in the globes and burn them the week of Christmas. It always goes on the coffee table.

I'll post some pictures later in the week of my tree and favorite ornaments, as well as some pics from Alise's room. I didn't put up the tree in our bedroom this year.

So how is your Christmas decorating going? Are you finished or are you just starting? Whether you're finished or not, share some of your favorite decorations and ideas. I can't wait to see them!! You might even want to check out Boomama's blog (see right margin for link) on the 15th for some ideas.

Happy decorating!!!

  1. WOW! Everything looks GREAT! I am vacuuming up all the "whiskers" that my trees and garland shed then I will post pictures. Don't tell anyone, but I am exhausted and so glad that I am almost done!

  2. I love the wreath with the "non-traditional" Christmas colors. I'm a red "traditionalist" but would definitely use other colors if they went with my decor. I'm afraid I won't do too much decorating this year with Caroline so young. However, this may be the last year that I won't have tiny hands trying to touch and grab everything! Maybe I should rethink the decorating! :)

p.s. How did you change what it says in your "comments" space?

  4. My husband loves our nutcracker collection. My favorite ornament on our tree is this year's Hallmark Keepsake ornament (we buy one each year). It's a snowflake that says 'Our first Christmas 2008' on it. :) My fave ornament on my parents' tree is my lightbulb santa :) (which my mother hides at the back of the tree).

  5. I love that wreath! How fun. And I'm super impressed that you can have rose bowls out with a young child....that would never work with our crazy child!

  6. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T DECIDE WHO TO PULL FOR IN THE BCS CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!! OU of course!!!!

I thought of you while watching the game!! Sorry for the loss!

Your Christmas decor is so pretty and vibrant. I've put ours out but I put out less this year than last year. I have to admit, I'm kind of wanting the holidays over so I can put the decor and totes back up in the attic!!

  7. Everything looks really nice. I am stillworking on mine, and not that thrilled this year. I think I'm in an odd place about Christmas this year. I'll just keep doing the best I can.

As for the Alabama loss, at least Tim Tebow is a Christian who give credit to Jesus for his talent. I did like that.
