Dr. Stanley called me at work this morning at about 8:30 about Alise. He said he did some research this weekend and wants Alise to have more blood work done before he contacts his old professor who is a hemotologist. I asked Dr. Stanley exactly how serious this elevated PTT level is. He said in his research he found that there are several clotting factors and he didn't even want to begin to go into the process, but that just this weekend, when he was on call, he saw a little girl who looked perfectly normal and had the same exact diagnosis as Alise...an elevated PTT. He said it mainly has to do with the mechanisms that help the blood clot and that truth be known yes, we needed to persue the additional tests simply because it is extremely important information to have should something happen later in Alise's life that would cause her to have emergent care or additional surgeries. He left the order at the front desk to pick up so I guess I will leave work early today, pick up Alise and have the blood work done. He said normally it takes 5 to 7 days to get the results and he would call me back next week.
